Essential Documents and Materials to Send to Your Recruiter

Updated: Mar 11

Here are a few things you will likely need to send your recruiter before they can apply you for jobs:

  • An updated resume

  • Date of birth and social security number

  • Copy of your drivers license

  • State PT license

  • Start date and any time off you need

  • Any certifications you have and the expiration date (BLS etc.)

  • The name, email/phone number of recent references

  • COVID vaccination card

  • Skills checklist

These items are typically put in a portal for easy access and allow your recruiter to apply you to jobs as they come up. When you start applying, companies will require different documents so this is why your recruiter will ask for so many things up front. I found it helpful to create a tab in my computer with all travel PT related documents so I do not have to find each item, every time I apply for a new contract.

Some recruiting companies will help you apply for the state license that you will be traveling to. In my experience, I have applied for the license myself so I can do it on my own timeline. I usually know which state I want to travel to when I tell my recruiter to find me a job. Each state has different timelines when applying for a license in that state. If your tax home is in a state that is part of the PT compact, this process is easier, however, I am from California so I unfortunately do not have that luxury and have to apply for a license in each state I want to work in.

You should feel like your recruiter is there to help you and answer all of your questions along the way!

If you need a sign to start travel therapy- here it is. This is what my weekends consisted of during my first contract.
